The latest updates from Parkland Institute

Dear Friend,

It’s been more than three years since we had our last full-fledged donation drive — and what a busy three years it’s been! From 2020 through 2022, we released 23 research reports on themes from health care and post-secondary education to big oil and farmland in Alberta. We hosted four conferences (our annual conferences plus a special event on Just Transition) and a number of other public events. We also expanded our reach through an active presence on social media and more than a hundred mentions in the media.

It goes without saying, but we like to say it out loud: every report written and event hosted, every tweet posted and media release sent out, every single thing we did during these three years was only possible because of our supporters. The work of Parkland Institute is not funded by corporations, the government, or even the university. The generosity of our supporters is what powers Parkland to work toward building a better Alberta. And we are incredibly thankful to them.

With a provincial election coming that will be one of the most important in Alberta’s history, there’s much to be done within the next few months. Parkland needs to be on top of that, with research-based analysis that will help Albertans better understand different platforms and tell fact from fiction during the build-up to election day.

Because the work we do is impactful, we’ve also been known to attract powerful enemies that threaten Parkland’s very existence. Most recently, Danielle Smith singled out Parkland Institute at an event during the leadership race, where she explicitly promised to go after our sources of funding:

We have much to do this coming year — and we need your support to help us make a difference going forward. Alberta needs the Parkland Institute, and today the Parkland Institute needs you.

If you are able, please help us with a  special one-time donation today. Any amount is appreciated, and donations received by December 31, 2022 will be acknowledged with a 2022 tax receipt by the University of Alberta.

I know that with your help the Parkland team can do great things to support democracy and the public interest in Alberta.

Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Yours for a better Alberta,
